My favourite aspect about this book was probably the complete patience and understanding Chay has for Keaton when they first begin their relationship. JL Langley managed to make this a hot read with a very tangible and engaging plotline.

This story could have easily been written as a sappy romance with too much sex and too little plot. What follows is a story of intrigue, family surprises, secrets from the past and a stronger bond of love than either Keaton or Chay could have ever imagined. A surprise visit from Keaton’s estranged brother, Aubrey, cements the idea in their head that Keaton’s family, who he believes purposely ran him out of his home when they found out he was gay, were behind the attacks. The story continues as the pair slowly begin to piece together the information that they have about who could possibly want to hurt Keaton. Chay and Keaton then have to deal with prejudice not just from Chay’s friends, but also from Chay’s mother, who is both homophobic and racist.

The problems begin when a series of near-death experiences for Keaton, all of them seemingly coincidences, force Keaton and Chay’s new relationship out in to the open. Chay and Keaton take things slowly, and eventually begin developing an emotional and physical relationship.

Of course, he’s confused about the wolf part, because women can’t turn in to wolves right? Absolutely they cannot! Chay takes the realization that his mate is actually male in strideĪfter a rocky start, which was made worse when Chay blurted out to Keaton that he “wasn’t gay,” the situation actually started to perk up. When Chay goes to check on the wolf, his immediate physical and emotional attraction lets him know that he has finally found his mate, something that he has been pining for since he was just a child. At the start of the story, Keaton is injured in his wolf form and is brought to Chay by the local game warden. This novel follows Chay Winston, a Native American heterosexual veterinarian who’s desperate to finally find his mate, and Keaton Reynolds, a White American firecracker of a wolf who’s had his fill of prejudice and homophobia. With Love was the first story, but technically you could read this separately because With Love was more of a teaser that isn’t directly related to Without Reservations or any other book in the series so far.
